Dixie is the horse who started this all for us. She was neither broke to ride nor drive when we got her at 13 years old. She took to both tasks quite naturally and is always eager to please us in doing whatever is asked of her. Dixie is a Quarter Horse/Rocky Mountain Horse/Thoroughbred Mix, standing 15.1 hands tall and weighing about 1100 lbs. Dixie’s role is now limited to pleasure rides around the farm and neighborhood where you may see her stretching her legs while pulling a light racing cart or Meadowbrook-style leisure cart. Look for her in an upcoming children’s book, Adventures of Dixie the Wonder Horse. Dixie has been diagnosed with Navicular Disease in both front feet and is no longer able to work on a regular basis.
